The $100,000 Archibald Prize for portraiture has been won by Melbourne-based artist Richard Lewer for his synthetic polymer painting of Pibtjantjatjara elder and senior artist Iluwanti Ken.
Art Gallery of NSW president Michael Rose said it had been the unanimous pick from the 59 finalists, which he and fellow trustees including former NSW politician Peter Collins, billionaire Paris Neilson and artist Tony Albert had filtered from 1034 entries.
