For centuries, Italy has been a cradle of artistry, producing some of the most sublime and evocative creations known to humankind. From the opulence of the Renaissance to contemporary innovations, Italian artisans have sculpted, painted, and designed masterpieces that resonate far beyond their physical forms, fostering emotional connections that are deeply personal. While many of these artistic treasures remain stationary, the brief interlude of the 1950s ushered in a unique era where beauty and functionality coalesced in the realm of Italian sports cars, elevating them to the status of moving artworks.
Scale Replicas Hand Crafted from Aluminium
Amalgam Collection’s Aluminium Body Replicas pay homage to the intricate art of carrosserie and the meticulous craft of forming metal into complex curves, encapsulating both the artistic essence and raw beauty of the original vehicles at a quarter of their size. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted from aluminium sheets by skilled artisans, who employ traditional techniques to form the panels using the ‘English Wheel’ and hammering the metal over a buck. The approach precisely replicates the work done by legendary coach builders such as Scaglietti, Pininfarina, Touring, and Zagato. The ‘trellis’, over which each replica is shaped, is machined with precision, drawing from digital scans of iconic original cars. Given the considerable investment in skilled artistic man-hours, each piece is crafted to order.
The final finish on each piece can be specified by the client, with raw hammered or mirror polished finishes options available, along with the option to have the piece decorated in an original race livery.
The Ferrari 250 GTO Body
Amalgam’s enduring admiration for the iconic Ferrari 250 GTO has deepened since they first modelled the car for Ralph Lauren in 2009. With each passing year, the allure of this Ferrari icon grows, its form epitomizing the quintessence of the brand in the shared imagination of enthusiasts. The further you dive into the details, the more you appreciate the artistry behind the creation, masterfully orchestrated by Bizzarini, Forghieri and notably, Scaglietti in the final design.
Amalgam have now unveiled a hand-crafted aluminium replica of the 250 GTO body at a quarter of its original size. The new release brings to collectors the opportunity to commission a race-liveried version of this authentic metal 1:4 scale body replica. Drawing from extensive research into 16 of the most famous race liveries, Amalgam is offering the 1:4 scale 250 GTO body in a limited edition of only 10 pieces of each livery.
The Pontoon Fender 250 Testa Rossa
The Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa stands as a pinnacle of automotive art, an unmatched confluence of beauty and speed that yielded monumental success on the track. Entered by Scuderia Ferrari across five World Championship years from 1957 to 1962, the Testa Rossa has etched its legacy as the most successful sports racing car in Ferrari’s illustrious history. Its “pontoon fender” body style is revered as the zenith of automotive design, embodying the greatest expression of art to emerge from Maranello.
To honour the exquisite form of the 250 Testa Rossa, Amalgam are now thrilled to present a hand-formed aluminium replica of the Pontoon Fender Testa Rossa body, also at a quarter scale. As with the 250 GTO, each piece is finely crafted from aluminium, following traditional carrosserie expertise with each panel formed and fitted by hand over a ‘trellis’, exactly following the process used by Carozzerie Scaglietti in 1957 to create the original.
This trellis, meticulously machined from precise data derived from a digital scan of a significant original Pontoon Fender 250 Testa Rossa, ensures that every detail is replicated with unparalleled accuracy. With every replica made to order, each extraordinary piece reflects a substantial investment in skilled craftsmanship, and is an exquisite testament to the enduring legacy of Italian automotive artistry.
