Students participate in Youth Art Exhibition

Each spring, the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts sponsors the annual Area Youth Art Exhibition. The exhibition features work from numerous students from surrounding counties, including public, private and home schools.

Counties involved included Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway and Prince Edward. Community members are invited to celebrate the creativity of the young artists by attending the opening reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., June 7.

The Cumberland students participating in the art exhibition were recognized at the April 9 meeting of the school board.

The students participating include the following:

CUMBERLAND COUNTY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Pre-K3: June Stevens, Bear Hug: A Woodland Collage

Pre-K4, Emmy Borgerding, Fox in the Forest: A Collage Study; and Ethan Winbush, Birch Trees: A Nature Collage

Kindergarten: Chase Little, Penguin in Warm & Cool Colors; Liberty Colvin, Autumn Colors in Nature; and Sekani Sutton, Cardinal Among Cherry Blossoms

First grade: Antonio Mealy, Whimsical Fox; Khadja Qureshi, Wonderful Owl; and Logan Eure, Space Traveler: A Mixed Media Adventure

Second grade: Georgia Weaver, Snow Angel: A Winter Self-Portrait

Third grade: Gabriella Derome, Pumpkin Perspectives: A Study in Form and Depth; and Michael Burruss, The Wise Old Owl
