Box Factory issues call for artists to submit work for MAAC


ST. JOSEPH — The Box Factory for the Arts has issued a call for artists to submit works for its Michiana Annual ArtCompetition (MAAC).

The exhibit will open May 17 and continue through July 7 at 1101 Broad St.

The MAAC is a local, juried, fine art exhibition designed to recognize, foster, and reward excellence of artists insouthwestern/western Michigan and northern Indiana.

Entrants who are residents of the following counties will be given preference: Allegan, Berrien, Cass, Kalamazoo, St.Joseph, Van Buren, Barry, Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon counties in Michigan; and Lake, Porter, LaPorte, St. Joseph and Elkhart counties in Indiana.

Entrants may submit up to two works of art, which must be original in concept and execution, created within the past three years, and not previously exhibited at the Box Factory.

Reproductions are not accepted.

Qualifying categories include photography (black and white and color), painting (oil, acrylic, watercolor and gouache), fiber arts weaving, quilting, knit, crochet, baskets), 3-D (sculpture, glass, ceramics, assemblages), Drawing (pastels, pencils, pen & ink, printmaking), and mixed media.

The entry fees are $25 for one piece and $40 for two pieces.

Online applications for entries must be received by April 7.
