The Bristol 1904 Arts Society has announced its 113th Annual Paintings Exhibition. Set to take place from April 27 to May 5 the exhibition will be open every day from 10:30am to 4:30pm at The Red Lodge, Park Row, Bristol BS1 5LJ, with the entrance located in Lodge Street.
The event, which is a significant part of Bristol’s art scene, will showcase around 100 new paintings. These works of art are the result of sketching excursions and many hours of arduous work throughout the year. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to purchase any of the original paintings on display.
In addition to the paintings, the exhibition will also feature a display of the top 100 artistic photographs produced by the society’s photography club, known as the “Snappers”. This display coincides with the paintings exhibition, providing visitors with a diverse range of visual art to enjoy.
Throughout the nine-day event, at least one skilled artist will be available each day to discuss the medium and complex techniques that go into each painting. Visitors can also expect a background of grand piano music and demonstrations of artists at work on the easel.
The Bristol 1904 Arts Society is a friendly community of 200 members with common interests in the visual and performing arts, as well as in good fun and fellowship. The society hosts a number of organised groups covering classic cars, country walking, city history, weekly painting skills workshops, a photography club, bird watching and ornithology, and much more.
During the winter months, the society meets on Wednesday evenings in the large barn-like hall situated in the grounds of the fascinating Red Lodge Museum in Park Row. Each week, members are entertained with piano, solo instruments or jazz, as well as singing performances.
Everyone is invited to the Paintings Exhibition. For further details, particularly for those interested in joining the society as a member, please visit the Bristol 1904 Arts Society website at www.Bristol1904Arts.org.
