Louth artist Leonora Reilly held a very successful first solo exhibition at the Market House, Main Street, Dunleer, where she showed a collection with the theme ‘Celebration of Life, Love & Nature’.

The four-day exhibition was packed and the theme came from her love of Plein Air painting and the Irish landscape.

“Nothing is forever and what I’ve created with this collection is just a snapshot of a day, a moment in time captured in paint forever; where life and love are celebrated in the little moments in time, that you come to realise were actually the biggest moments of all,” explains Leonora, who is based just outside Drogheda, Co Louth.

“It could be the innocence of a child full of fun enjoying themselves; to the quality events in a day that make everything worthwhile. A stolen moment on the deserted beach to the sheer joy of living. Grasp life with both hands and live to its fullest, everyday.”

A framed fine art print of Leonora’s new mixed media ‘Awakening’ – Millmount painting (inspiration from a Tony Campbell photo) was donated by Conor Thorne of Frame & Art, Ardee and raffled to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Tredagh Lodge Day Centre in Drogheda.

Fiona McKenna from Ratoath won the print and a total of €435 was raised from visitors to the exhibition.

“The wonderful artist Henry McGrane from Navan – my past tutor in oil painting – opened my Solo Exhibition,” adds Leonora, “and a selection of my past colleagues, artists, friends and family joined me on my opening night. Some travelled from Malahide, south Dublin, Navan, Newry and Cookstown in NI”.
