Five artists share their paintings with Brazos Valley in new Arts Council Exhibit

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) –This segment on The Three was paid for and sponsored by The Arts Council of Brazos Valley.

The Arts Council’s newest exhibit, A Brush With Tradition, opened on June 4.

It features artwork from a group of painters called The Fab Five: Cheryl Christopher, June Dudley, Ceci Luepnitz, Janene Pratt, and Lesley Spencer.

The exhibit shows a more traditional style of painting, from landscapes to portraits and more.

The Fab Five painters started meeting around six years ago as a way to critique each other’s work and grow as artists.

Now, the group gets to showcase their individual works in one big exhibit!

“I always wanted to be an artist. From my earliest remembrance this is what I’ve always wanted to do,” said June Dudley.

Dudley said she loves sharing a love of art with the other four artists in the exhibit.

“God put that desire in me years ago and it’s still there just as strong as it ever was and I think he’s put that desire in all five of us,” added Dudley.

Cheryl Christopher always had a passion for creating, but didn’t start painting until 12 years ago.

She worked in photography and dress design before picking up a paintbrush.

“It seemed as though painting just really brought a peace and a comfort to me and so that really is what started me in painting,” explained Christopher.

The last day to view A Brush With Tradition is July 26th.
