MEDIA RELEASE
Please join us to celebrate Billy Bishop Museum’s new Pollinator Habitat, a project of the OPEN Team and Pollinate Owen Sound.
This past June, volunteers planted over 30 species of native plants. Thanks to the Billy Bishop Museum’s staff’s care, they are doing well in their first summer.
This is the first of four demonstration pollinator habitats being planned, which will include the Owen Sound Library, the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, and the Community Waterfront Heritage Centre.
Join us for tea, cake, and music. And learn more about native plants and our vision for a pollinator corridor in Owen Sound and beyond.
Pollinate Owen Sound is a grassroots group in partnership with the OPEN Team (Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library – Tom Thomson Art Gallery – Billy Bishop Museum – Community Waterfront Heritage Centre).
Our objective is to create demonstration pollinator habitats at each of the four OPEN Team sites; provide education on the importance of native plants; encourage pollinator-friendly habitats in the City’s public spaces; support private individuals to create their own pollinator habitats; and be part of a regional pollinator corridor.
