Gauguin’s World exhibition opens alongside Pasifika art collective

The promotional text for the National Gallery’s blockbuster winter show, Gauguin’s World: Tōna Iho, Tōna Ao, features a significant disclaimer.

“In today’s context,” it reads, “Gauguin’s interactions in Polynesia in the later part of the 19th century would not be accepted and are recognised as such.”
