‘Cuba Oriente’ exhibit opens at 906 Art Gallery in Greer


“Cuba Oriente: Contemporary Painting from Eastern Cuba, opened at 906 Art Gallery in Greer.

The exhibit, which consists of almost 300 pieces owned by Rob Rowen of Nuance Galleries, will be on display at 906 W. Poinsett St. through June 9.

“Cuba Oriente” includes traditionalist to modern paintings and original woodblock prints by a variety of artists, including Marcos Pavon Estrada, Antonio Ferrer Cabello, Pouyo and Jose Aguilera Vincente.

“This exhibition is a colorful representation of a region we don’t get to see much of in the Upstate,” said Leah Odom, owner and event coordinator at 906 Art Gallery. “I’m really excited to represent new perspectives in our gallery and introduce our patrons to a new type of art they may not have gotten the chance to see before.”

906 Art Gallery will host an opening reception at 6 p.m. May 17 to celebrate the new collection.

Visitors may also view the collection from noon to 7 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday and 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday.
