BLISSFIELD — There is only a handful of days remaining for people to check out a solo art exhibition at Flatlander’s Art Galleries in Blissfield.
“The Sudden Flows of Creativity” is the title of the exhibition on display by abstract expressionist Dawud Shabazz and curated by Steven J. Athanas. The no-cost exhibit will remain open to the public through Saturday, Aug. 31, at Flatlanders Art Galleries on the eastern edge of Blissfield, 11993 E. U.S. 223. The exhibit opened July 8 and included an opening reception on July 14.
Shabazz is a self-taught artist born in Detroit, Flatlanders said in a news release. His work has been shown in the Toledo Museum of Art as well as at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. He has received numerous awards, and his work is collected by many.
“My main intentions are to capture the eye of the beholder. Spark a moment of serenity. Encourage imagination within the eye of the beholder,” Shabazz said in the release. “My intentions are to ensure my customers receive quality art that will last a lifetime. Multiple hours and effort are put into each painting which consists of many layers of media and texture. Art is meant to last a lifetime so it can be passed on to generations. The view and joy of my paintings will always create a conversation to the beholder’s eye.”
