Art collectors and enthusiasts are invited to look for art pieces that can enhance their personal identities and enrich their own collections during “The Collector Club”, which is running at JWD Art Space, until Sept 1.
Presented by Art Auction Center, a prestigious art auction house in Thailand, the exhibition features a selection of more than 130 outstanding works by renowned artists that reflect their creative approaches.
They are presented under four distinctive themes inspired by the unique paths of art collections by the most famous art collectors, prominent figures, and art patrons in history.
“The Visionary Valor” is inspired by the collection approach of the American couple, Herbert and Dorothy Vogel, who proved to the world that art collecting is accessible to everyone, not just the wealthy.
“The Civilized Cosmopolite” represents the Rockefeller family and J. Paul Getty who not only supported the masterworks they admired but also became passionate about the rich, multicultural history and civilisations they encountered in their quest for the world’s treasures.
“The Legendary Lord” draws inspiration from the House of Medici that transformed Florence into the epicentre of the Renaissance; while “The Art Amour” is reminiscent of American heiress Peggy Guggenheim who accumulated modern artworks in her private collection and her home is today an art museum called the Peggy Guggenheim Collection.
Among the masterpieces on show are Batter Of Mara (1994), an oil and gold leaf on canvas by Thawan Duchanee; Riding Nude (2017), an acrylic on canvas by Kitti Narod; Alley In The Garden (1986), poster paint on paper by Tang Chang; and Nude (1961), pastel on paper by Chakrabhand Posayakrit.
Besides Our Camp, Yamanaga, an oil on board created during WWII by Prakit (Jit) Buabusaya while a scholarship student in Japan, the collection includes oil on canvas paintings such as Vietnamese Lady (1962) by Sompot Upa-in; Universe (1969) by Pratuang Emjaroen; Parrhasius White Painting (2007) by Natee Utarit; and The Field by Suchao Sisganese.
