Late musician Prince’s iconic album and movie Purple Rain marks its 40th anniversary this year, and there are plenty of festivities, tribute concerts, and even a Broadway musical in the works to celebrate the pop culture milestone. Phillip Lamar is the founder and front man for Colorado’s premiere Prince tribute band, Paizley Park. He joins Chandra Thomas Whitfield to reflect on the legacy and creative challenge of channeling The Artist.
