Worcester Festival: Wednesday entertainment round-up

Today there is a special themed open day at the Museum of Royal Worcester in Severn Street, centred around summer fruits.

It is perfect for the whole family with clay modelling, tea tasting, making fruity vinegar dressings, meeting former Royal Worcester artists demonstrating painting fruit and stories with Worcestershire Litfest poets.

While at the Museum of Royal Worcester it would be the perfect time to check out its brand-new exhibition called Sensory Trail.

People can experience the museum’s collection by using their senses, feel the weight of the pottery and hear and smell what working in the factory was like and what life was like during the 20th century.

If the 20th century isn’t far enough back in time then why not head to Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum, Foregate Street, for its roar-some summer exhibition Dinosaurs on the Doorstep.

The exhibition is free to explore.

People can also take part in the dinosaur trails and activity bags for a small fee per child.

Today and next Wednesday there is also a chance for parents’ little ones to get hands-on with some of the fossils at 10.30am.

This is perfect for any budding archaeologists who will be able to ask any questions they may have.

This session is £2.50 per child.

People who fancy testing their animation film knowledge can head over to Hand In Glove bar in College Street for the Worcester Film Festival quiz which runs from 4pm until 6pm.

It is suitable for the whole family to see which films everyone knows ‘Inside Out’ and which ones they ‘Wish’ they knew the answers to.

If ghosts and legends appeal more then why not head to the Elgar Statue by Cathedral Square tonight at 8pm for the Historic Ghost Walk of Worcester.

There is also a ghost walk on Wednesday, August 21 for anyone who needs to work up the courage to embark on this spooky journey.
