Narberth poets launch protest poetry exhibition in gallery

The Narberth Poets, a group of six Pembrokeshire poets, have launched an exhibition of protest poetry and related artworks at Narberth Museum Gallery.

The exhibition, titled Resistance is Fertile, opened to a packed audience on Friday, with the show running throughout the summer.

The group, including Jackie Biggs, Bean Sawyer, Emma Baines, Jean Riley, Christian Donovan, and Jane Campbell, have been meeting for six months to workshop their poems and plan the exhibition.

Supported by SPAN Arts, they were given space to meet regularly and develop their ideas.

The exhibition aims to highlight various social and environmental injustices in the contemporary world.

Rather than traditional presentation in journals and magazines, the poems are displayed on the walls of the gallery, offering a distinctive visual experience.

The group believes that while it can often feel challenging to influence those in power, poetry and art have the potential to inspire social change and challenge the status quo.

The exhibition will run until October 1.
