Kozhikode: Malayali artist and Thrissur native, Francis Kodankandath, has been invited to exhibit his paintings at the New York Art Gallery.

The exhibition will be held from June 6 to 26. He retired as the Assistant Commissioner of Customs and has received numerous national and international awards.

Pictures from the film series ‘The Patent of a Paper Boat’ by Kodankandath will be put on display at the gallery. The uniqueness of these pictures lies in their creation on Kanchipuram silk.

His wife and fellow artist, Sherly Joseph Chalissery, also actively participated in the design of the pictures. The works of six painters from six continents have been selected by renowned curator Gabriela Massa. Kodankandath is the only artist from Asia who has been given the opportunity to display his work, making this exhibition a significant achievement for him and a proud moment for the Indian art community.
