Summer is almost in full swing. The weather is getting warmer, our outfits are changing, and London’s art exhibitions are shining brightly, making it the perfect time to gallery hop and explore the city’s artistic palette in Five Exhibitions To See In London In June 2024.
Our selection features a great variety of expressions, from provocative pieces by iconic rebels to poignant photographs capturing the essence of human emotions and culture. Whether you’re a seasoned art lover or a curious newcomer, these exhibitions offer something for everyone.
First stop on our list of Exhibitions To See In London is D’Stassi Art, hosting the debut UK solo exhibition of the iconic French painter Didier Chamizo. Chamizo embodies an artist whose life and art are inseparable, each informing the other in a passionate dance of creativity and experience. His art is not merely a reflection of his life; it is an emblem of his turbulent journey. Charged with the raw energy of his life’s story, his paintings showcase a rebel soul who defies conventions and expectations. Chamizo himself would tell you that his work is his voice, and through it, he speaks volumes about the highs and lows of his extraordinary existence.
Next up on our Five Exhibitions To See In London In June 2024 is “Through The Lens of Esther Anderson: Bob Marley: The Early Years“ in Muswell Hill. This exhibition brings together 20 rare and iconic photographs of Bob Marley taken by the pioneering Jamaican filmmaker, photographer, and activist Esther Anderson at the start of Marley’s journey into musical stardom in the early 1970s. This rare and intimate archive tells the story of the legendary artist, Bob Marley.
Then, we go “Back in the Dazed: RANKIN 1991-2001” at 180 Studios, which highlights one photographer and one magazine across one memorable decade, featuring the iconic photographer Rankin. As the co-founder and Dazed & Confused’s first Photographic Editor, Rankin’s visual style helped launch the magazine and defined the aesthetics of multiple generations of British youth. Over ten years, Rankin photographed over 200 iconic editorial shoots for the magazine. His work from this period forms a manifesto about how to view the world, a political statement communicated not with words but with a camera lens.
Next on our Five Exhibitions To See In London In June 2024, we hop over to Amar Gallery in Fitzrovia, an activist art gallery championing overlooked female, minority, and LGBT+ artists. The exhibition “Dora Maar: Behind the Lens” will showcase exclusive photographs and photograms from the Dora Maar Estate, hosted by British Indian LGBT+ ally and women’s rights activist Amar Singh and renowned British author Louisa Treger.
Our last stop on Five Exhibitions To See In London In June is Thomas Dane Gallery for Patricia Leite‘s “Paisagem de Lenda (Landscape of Legend).” The exhibition presents a group of new paintings and a floor-based tapestry that invoke indigenous stories deeply linked to the landscape and ecology of Brazil. As these natural environments are being eroded by climate change, industry, extraction, and the destructive policies of neglectful governments, Leite creates work that reflects on what will be lost and melancholically celebrates what still remains.
There you have it, our Five Exhibitions To See In London In June 2024. Enjoy!
Didier Chamzio: Rebel Soul
D’Stassi Art is thrilled to announce the first ever UK solo exhibition of iconic French painter Didier Chamizo, titled Rebel Soul. Didier Chamizo’s UK Debut show will be revealed with an opening night on 7th June, with a rare appearance by Chamizo.
Opening on 7th June 2024 at D’Stassi Art in London’s Shoreditch, the exhibition showcases 19 vivid figurative portraits and a custom Harley Davidson hand-painted by Chamizo. Inspired by lettrism, a unique alternative to graffiti and tag art, Chamizo is renowned for creating lettric abstraction-figuration, a style marked by raw, untamed expression and deep emotional truths.
To be an artist with expression is one thing, but to be an artist with a story is another. Chamizo is an artist in the most authentic sense, his art informing his life and life informing his art. His life is a life lived to the fullest.
However, Chamizo is more than a living example of the trope of a suffering artist: his art was born out of experiences that most people wouldn’t live through in a lifetime, but he channelled these experiences into visceral narratives that jump out of the canvas. As the saying goes, ‘You never know what you know until you do what you’ve never been told.’ This sentiment sets an artist on a path to iconism. Chamizo epitomizes the blend of art and lived experience. His work is an emblem of his turbulent journey, filled with political activism, personal tragedy, and relentless creativity.

Patricia Leite: Paisagem de Lenda
Like many Brazilian children, Patricia Leite (b.1955, Belo Horizonte, Brazil) was raised on the legends of the Tupi-Guarani indigenous people. These stories are embedded in the landscapes of Brazil, where the gods reside in the sun, the moon, the forest, the sea, the stars and the mountains, transforming these features of the landscape into lead characters to which a young Leite would look to shape her own world and imagination.
For Paisagem de Lenda (Landscape of Legend), her second exhibition at Thomas Dane Gallery in London, Leite presents a group of new paintings and a floor-based tapestry that invoke these indigenous stories, deeply linked to the landscape and ecology of Brazil. As these natural environments are being eroded by climate change, industry, extraction and the destructive policies of neglectful governments, Leite creates work that reflects on what will be lost, and in melancholic celebration of what still remains. Leite’s work is imbued with stories and memories from her life: her recollections of travel and of friendships.
