Birmingham Royal Ballet take residency at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery

From Wednesday 26 June to Tuesday 2 July, Birmingham Royal Ballet will be making their home in Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery’s Waterhall with an exhibition and demonstrations, chances to watch performances and the dancers taking company class, and chances to join in dance classes and practical workshops.

Birmingham Royal Ballet’s talented dancers and musicians can normally to be found tucked away in their headquarters at the back of Birmingham Hippodrome, or on tour around the UK or internationally.

However, they will be joining forces with another of Birmingham’s cultural icons over seven incredible days from 26 June to 2 July, when they take up residency at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery’s Waterhall.

As well as lots of opportunities for the public to engage with the company, Birmingham Royal Ballet will also be using the Waterhall to share some of the work of Freefall Dance Company (BRB’s associate company for people with learning disabilities) with invited groups, and alongside other arts organisations in the city are planning a day designed to introduce secondary school students to the wide range of careers available in the performing arts.

If you’d like to find out a bit more about all aspects of life in a ballet company, including costumes from iconic shows such as La Fille mal gardée and Cinderella, or discover Carlos Acosta’s Birmingham trilogy, City of a Thousand TradesBlack Sabbath – The Ballet, and the forthcoming Luna, premiered this October, then book your place for one of the events at Birmingham Royal Ballet at the Museum.
