The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery (CCGG) has launched the first phase of its permanent collection online, an archival project featuring 300 ceramic, glass and enamel artworks.
The website features images and information for each piece, including the date of creation and the respective artist. This project is part of the gallery’s initiative to digitize its collections, including books from the Sinclair Family Library and works from the Ann Roberts Archival Centre, for public access.
The Permanent Collection emphasizes Canadian contemporary ceramic, glass and enamel art made since 1950. It also includes some international and historical pieces acquired from donors.
Also included in the digital archives are holdings from the Sinclair Family Library, which has more than 800 exhibition catalogues and books on porcelain, pottery, sculpture making, mosaics, glassmaking and more, as well as the Ann Roberts Archival Centre, which features institutional records such as materials about the gallery’s history and architecture.
The Government of Canada has funded this project through the Canadian Heritage Museums Assistance Programs Grant.
