“Amongst Visions” showcases work by artist and PhD student Holly Davey, celebrating the life and work of Slade alumna Frances Jennings (1889-1915). The display features archival materials and original drawings from UCL Art Museum, alongside Davey’s own creative responses, including script, performance, video and collage.

The display is the first staged by the museum since it re-opened to the public in April, following a period of closure during the museum’s relocation ahead of UCL’s bicentenary in 2026.

The work on show intertwines with Davey’s ongoing research funded by the London Arts and Humanities Partnership (LAHP) into forgotten women artists at the margins of collections and archival spaces.

The display contains material referencing mental health and suicide.

Alongside public openings on Wednesdays, UCL Art Museum remains accessible for teaching and for research visits by appointment on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It continues to support placements from UCL’s History of Art, Digital Humanities and Museum Studies programmes, along with research projects from students based at other universities.

Following its return to public programming, UCL Art Museum has achieved a renewed status of Full Accreditation with Arts Council England – a UK-wide quality standard for museums and galleries. The museum had been moved to a Provisional Accreditation status due to its closure and move to a new premises.

UCL Art Museum’s Acting Head of Art Collections Andrea Fredericksen said:

“It’s a testament to the hard work of the team that we have achieved the renewed status of Full Accreditation at the end of August, and great to have this acknowledgement before the start of the new academic year.”
