The Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar is set to host an exciting array of events, including dance, music, literature, visual art, and community events in the weeks ahead.
On Wednesday, May 20, a special workshop led by Monica Muñoz will facilitate dance workshops for both children and adults.
May 20 will also see the ‘FoodFest Fundraiser’ with Sarah Butler, which will help to raise vital funds to keep the school bus running for the students who rely on it.
Sarah will host a live 3-course cookery demonstration, sharing delicious dishes and expert tips. Guests will also enjoy live music from Grainne and Con Murphy, along with plenty of fun, surprises, and giveaways throughout the evening.
Music audiences can also look forward to a performance from two of Mayo’s most acclaimed musicians, Alannah Thornburgh and Stephen Doherty, on Thursday, May 21. The duo will present an evening of traditional and contemporary compositions on harp and flute, blending exceptional musical skill with storytelling through music.

For literary enthusiasts and aspiring authors, Linenhall’s upcoming events for writers will offer opportunities for creativity, discussion, and inspiration. Alice Kinsella and Daniel Wade of ‘All Weather Words’ bring their ‘Introduction to Creative Writing’ workshop series to the Linenhall, starting on Tuesday, May 26, and continuing for 6 weeks. Writers at all stages of their journey are encouraged to sign up.
Written and performed by Mick Donnellan, ‘The Crucified Silence’ comes to the Linenhall stage on Friday, May 29, offering a darkly comic and deeply human portrait of one man’s unravelling in the West of Ireland. Set in Ballinrobe, and told through the voice of Joe, a troubled local Garda, the play explores loneliness, loss, alcoholism and identity in a stripped-back, emotionally charged performance.
Visual art lovers are also encouraged to visit the Linenhall Gallery before the departure of Vanessa Donoso Lopez’s striking exhibition ‘The rock that hurt you, was the rock that opened a nut’ on Saturday, May 23. The exhibition has captivated audiences with its thoughtful exploration of identity, memory and place, and visitors are invited to experience the work before the show concludes.
Full details of all programming are available at www.thelinenhall.com, and enquiries are welcome at the Box Office on 094 9023733.
