Falmouth Art Gallery will once again host its popular Fun Palace event on Saturday, October 18, from 10am to 4pm.
The event is part of a UK-wide scheme that supports people in co-creating cultural and community events.
Willow Collins, learning assistant and Fun Palace coordinator at Falmouth Art Gallery, said: “We are so excited to be hosting a Fun Palace at the Gallery once again this year, it really is one of our favourite events of the year.
“It is great to be able to showcase the breadth of different creative outlets that are thriving right here in the Falmouth Community.
“Everyone is welcome and we’d love to see as many people as possible who are looking to feel inspired and get their creative juices flowing!”
This year’s event will focus on creative wellbeing and highlight opportunities for self-expression through activities such as writing, clay modelling, recycling projects, and radio broadcasting.
The day will include craft workshops for children and hands-on sessions for all ages.
The event is supported by several community organisations, each offering interactive stalls and activities.
Make it Better CIC will invite visitors to draw, paint, and write on copies of building plans for Falmouth Art Gallery and Library, helping to reimagine these public spaces.
Arts Well will encourage attendees to create colourful collages inspired by artists like Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse, exploring the benefits of art for health and wellbeing.
Fairtrade Falmouth will offer free refreshments and conversations about ethical food practices and caring for the community and the environment.
Source FM will give visitors the chance to try live radio broadcasting and learn how Cornwall Mind supports people through radio.
Tutors from Cornwall Adult Education will be present to share course information and offer hands-on activities.
The Re-Source Project will be represented by Falmouth Town Council’s community outreach officer Nicola Burgess, who will speak to visitors about new studios at Kimberley Park Lodge.
Nicola will also discuss workshops and opportunities to develop digital and creative media skills.
Fun Palaces is a national initiative which supports local people to co-create their own cultural and community events with the aim of sharing and celebrating the genius in everyone.
The Falmouth event is free and open to all, with no booking required.
