We’re Updating Our Art Collection Policy

Yarra City Council vis seeking community feedback on its draft Collection Policy 2025-2029.

The City’s collection comprises over 1,030 civic, art and public art items that reflect Yarra’s local cultural heritage and the city’s unique history and people. Yarra’s Collection Policy sets out the principles and practices that guide how the collection is developed, documented, conserved, interpreted and made accessible to the community.

Yarra City Council’s Collection was founded in 1994, based on the range of artworks and cultural artefacts that the City of Yarra inherited when the municipalities of Collingwood, Richmond and Fitzroy amalgamated. The current Collection Policy was developed in 2020, and now it’s time for a refresh.

Visit Your Say Yarra to look at the draft Collection Policy and tell us if we’ve got it right or if you think anything can be improved. Please provide your feedback before 9am on Monday 11 August 2025.
