AGAWAM — Agawam Community Artists and Artisans will host their fourth annual Pioneer Valley Art Festival this weekend at the Polish American Club in Feeding Hills. Local history is a prominent theme this year, and Southwick history will be represented by the Southwick Historical Society.
“Our table is another opportunity for us to meet people and let them know about our organization,” said archivist Pat Odiorne, in an email.
At its table, the Historical Society will sell copies of Robert Madison’s “New Haven and Northampton Canal Greenway: Bike and Rail Trails — Following the Historic Canal,” she said. Published by the Agawam-based publisher Silver Street Media in 2016, the book discusses the bike and rail trails that run the length of the former canal, which operated from the 1820s to the 1840s and was replaced by the New Haven and Northampton Railroad after failing to turn a profit.
