SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – On Friday, August 1, the Washington Pavilion Visual Arts Center will include extended hours, featuring artists and new exhibitions during the Downtown Sioux Falls Art & Wine Walk.
The Art and Wine walk coincides with Free First Friday, offering free museum admission from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Guests can explore eight dynamic galleries, meet artists, and enjoy the downtown energy, as well as what the Washington Pavilion has to offer.
“Free First Friday and the Art & Wine Walk together create a welcoming, celebratory atmosphere,” said Lead Curator of the Visual Arts Center, Jana Anderson.
Some of the new galleries that will be available include:
- The Journey, by David Sieh:
- This retrospective at the Shultz Gallery showcases 20 years of Sieh’s artistic exploration, combining meditative brushwork with scientific inspiration. Celebrating experimentation and growth, the exhibition runs from now until December 5, 2025.
- Lore, by Cameron Stalheim:
- Housed in the Contemporary Gallery, this exhibition features Stalheim’s sculptures that explore themes of transformation and the evolving human body. It is open for viewing until January 2, 2026.
- Through Their Eyes: Children’s Art in Times of War and Peace
- Eyob Mergia’s exhibit at the Jerstad Gallery pairs his vibrant paintings with children’s drawings from war-torn Ethiopia and Sioux Falls, expressing trauma, memory, and joy. The exhibit runs until January 4, 2026.
- 54 Seasons of Storytelling: Celebrating Prairie Repertory Theatre
- Prairie Repertory Theatre’s 54-season retrospective at the University Gallery features costumes and archival materials from the theatre’s history. Open until January 5, 2026.
Admission to all exhibits will be free on August 1.
