“The Art of Being” is an exploration of the profound intersectionality of Blackness and Queerness through the creative expressions of contemporary artists. Inspired by bell hooks’ concept of ‘queer’ as a self at odds yet resilient, this exhibition seeks to celebrate and interrogate the experiences of Black queer individuals in today’s socio-political landscape.
Through the lens of art, this exhibit celebrates the multiplicity of identities within the Black queer experience, challenging viewers to embrace authenticity, resilience, and joy. Not only as a showcase of artistic talent but also as a testament to the ongoing struggle and beauty of living at the intersection of both worlds.
