Fine Art and Architecture undergraduate and postgraduate exhibitions
Newcastle University is home to leading international centres of Creative Practice. The 2024 Degree Shows are in preparation.
The Fine Art BA Degree shows run from May 25–June 7 (Monday–Saturday only, 10am–5pm), in the Hatton Gallery and throughout the Fine Art Building, Newcastle University.
The Architecture Degree Shows run June 15–24 (Monday–Saturday only, 10am–5pm) in Newcastle, and for one night only, Thursday 27th June in London Newcastle University APL Degree Show 2024 – London Festival of Architecture. Further details can be found here.
The Fine Art MFA shows run from August 17–31, (Monday–Saturday only, 10am–5pm) in the Hatton Gallery and throughout the Fine Art Building, Newcastle University.
Newcastle University offers distinctive undergraduate, master’s and practice-led PhD programmes across Fine Art, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Creative Writing, Film, and Music. The MFA in Fine Art is a two-year full-time studio-based course taught by leading professional artists. We support practice and research in all areas of contemporary art practice including painting, sculpture, digital media, drawing, performance, photography, printmaking, installation, art writing, film, and video art.
Our Curating Art MA, will provide you with an opportunity to develop your skills as a curator or gallery educator. We work in collaboration with our key partners – the Hatton Gallery and the Laing Art Gallery.
In our Museum Studies MA you will explore the practical aspects of running museums, as well as the theories behind the societal role of museums. You’ll learn how to curate group exhibitions or organise and deliver complete education and learning events.
The MA in Creative Writing provides a unique opportunity to explore and develop your creative writing skills. Our leading writers teach in four areas—prose, poetry, theatre script and screenwriting.
MA Writing Poetry: Choose this master’s in poetry to receive expert tuition from nationally and internationally renowned poets. They’ll help develop your poetry-writing and reflective abilities through reading, discussion and revision.
The MMus in Music is distinctive for its flexibility. You can specialise in musicology or creative practice, or mix and match across these fields.
The Master of Landscape Architecture focusses on the theories, methods and practices of landscape architecture for planetary health and well-being, equipping you for research and practice in a landscape related discipline.
The Master of Architecture (MArch) offers you the opportunity to engage with challenging ideas and theories and tackle meaningful problems through creative and exploratory design studios and research electives.
The MSc in Advanced Architectural Design is a post-professional degree that helps you consolidate your own identity as a designer. You’ll develop your own distinctive specialisms through research-led design, with an emphasis on sophisticated representational techniques.
