Los Angeles pop trio Wilson Phillips was formed in 1989 by Carnie and Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips, daughters of music legends Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys and John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas. Known for their lush harmonies and soft rock sound, they scored No. 1 hits with “Hold On,” “Release Me” and “You’re in Love.” Grammy-nominated and still beloved, they are returning to the stage this year with a limited-engagement tour.
Guests at “A Night of the Arts” Gala will be immersed in unforgettable music and visual arts experiences created to showcase the best of the organizations. At an AEIVA gallery, guests will have the opportunity to cast a ballot and choose a work of art to join the museum’s permanent collection. Arts in Medicine will feature musical performances by talented UAB health care staff and students. ArtPlay’s youth singers will open for Wilson Phillips. All concert tickets are premium A-level, and seating is based on order of purchase. The after-party at the Alys Stephens Center will follow the concert.
Sponsorship and VIP tickets are also available and include dinner by Helen Restaurant on the Sirote Theatre stage, where guests will have the opportunity to meet and have their photo taken with the members of Wilson Phillips. Make a reservation.
“The Night of the Arts” Gala is in honor of Lydia Cheney and Jim Sokol, strong advocates and supporters of the arts who give generously of their time and resources to further the missions of arts initiatives across the Birmingham community and beyond.
