Peter Albano, Real Art Ways’ Visual Arts Manager, curator, and multidisciplinary artist, will be showing a body of work inspired by his exploration of quilting techniques and textiles, relationship with maternal figures and family practices, and notions of masculinity through a social, personal, pseudo-historical, and semi-satirical lens.
Some works are more traditionally made, using hand and machine appliqué techniques, while others experiment with a combination of drawing, painting, and sewing techniques.
The Arts Industry is a project Peter started three years ago and currently runs with fellow artist Lauren Be Dear. It is a grass-roots (bootstrapped) exhibition space showcasing regional, emerging, and early-career artists. All events at The Arts Industry are free to attend and last one night only (after which exhibitions are open by appointment). Although there will be wine and snacks, guests are welcome to bring other refreshments.
