Searching for the perfect location for the most Insta-worthy pics? Look no further than the Color Factory. Here, you can wander through 14 oversize, candy-colored galleries with playful decor encouraging you to engage with your surroundings, such as ball pits, confetti showers, and rooms where the walls feel alive with shifting hues—think Katy Perry circa “California Girls.” Each exhibit also draws inspiration from Houston’s culture, with nods to Texas wildflowers, diverse cuisine, and local folklore. It’s very much a joyous sensory overload.

If itching to explore an otherworldly playground that’s part art exhibit, part sci-fi fever dream, this is the place to be. Across more than 40 rooms, you’ll encounter glowing alien figures, interactive digital landscapes, and environments where colors ripple like liquid light. Designed to spark curiosity and unleash creativity, each “galaxy” (what they call the galleries) has its own unique mind-bending vibe. Seismique is also a hub for the city’s artistic community, with 12 galaxies dedicated to showcasing the works of Houston-based talent.

At the Health Museum, science isn’t just theoretical. Its permanent exhibits offer a fascinating, educational journey through what makes us human. This quirky art space is the brainchild of a postal worker who spent more than two decades transforming found objects into a whimsical tribute to his favorite fruit. What started as one man’s passion project is now a must-see folk art experience, featuring a labyrinth of mosaics, sculptures, and handmade relics that radiate joyful absurdity. Plus, we have this center to thank for our beloved annual Art Car Parade, which celebrates the kitschiest automobiles imaginable. Although the monument is currently closed for restoration, we recommend checking out the famous Beer Can House while we wait in excitement.
