How high school students can enter the 2024 Congressional Art Competition

Apr. 17—Congressman Josh Brecheen gives information on how high school students can enter the annual Congressional Art Competition.

1 What is the competition?

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.

2 Where do I submit entries?

Students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, DC. The winning works are displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

In eastern Oklahoma, submissions will be sent to Congressman Brecheen’s office.

Submissions may be mailed to or dropped off at:

Representative Josh Brecheen

223 W. Patti Page Blvd.

Claremore, OK 74017

If you have any questions, contact the District Office at 918-283-6262

3 When is the deadline?

The submission deadline is Friday, April 19, 2024.

4 What does the district winner receive?

The overall winner of the district’s competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will also include artwork from other contest winners nationwide. The winner will receive roundtrip airfare provided for themselves and one guest to Washington D.C., and two tickets to the winner’s reception on Thursday, June 27, 2024

5 Where can I find the guidelines for the competition?

Guidelines can be found online at brecheen.house.gov/uploadedfiles/2024artrulesregulations.pdf
