A visual documentation of Greek Australian life at Equinox Art Exhibition

A visual journey of Greek Australian life will be on display at the fourth annual Equinox Art Exhibition next week.

The exhibition depicts the lives of Greek immigrants from their everyday existence, to their celebrations and their sorrows with a collection of black and white and colour photographs.

Melbourne’s Greek Community will be focused on more specifically.

“The exhibition does not claim or purport to be a definitive and comprehensive depiction of Australian Greek lives. It is however, a step forward in the right direction, to visually document those lives,” the Greek Democritus Workers League said in a media release sent to Neos Kosmos.

“The photographs provide a deeper understanding of the migrant experience. By documenting the lives of these hardworking men and women, the exhibition honours the lasting contributions of Greek immigrants and ensures their legacy is preserved for future generations.

“Each photograph stands as a testament to their labours, their strengths, and their enduring impact on Australia’s cultural and economic fabric.”

The exhibition will be launched by Dr Konstandina Dounis on Saturday November 2 at 2.30pm and will run until November 10 at Steps Gallery, 62 Lygon St, Carlton.

It is free entry and is open 11am to 4pm, but closed on Monday November 4.
