Saturday was ‘D-Day’ for Open Studios artists in West Berks and North Hants!
On Distribution Day a team of 12 volunteers, led by artist Tracey Larkin, had an early start at Liberty House, Greenham to sort and hand out brochures, banners, flyers and posters to the 115 artists taking part in Open Studios West Berkshire & North Hampshire this May.

For many it was a familiar routine and a chance to catch up with old friends. For the 23 artists new to the scheme, it was a great opportunity to meet each other and put faces to the names of the committee members.
Over the coming days the brochures will be distributed to more than 200 locations in a wide area around Newbury, from Lambourn to Basingstoke and from Reading to Andover.

These locations include pubs, shops, museums, libraries, galleries and art centres, cafes, community centres, hotels, doctors, dentists, etc. etc. with major hubs at Newbury library, The Corn Exchange (and the Old Library), the West Berkshire Museum and the Greenham control tower.
Look out for the red banner and pick up a FREE copy of the brochure. Inside you will find details of all the venues and artists taking part, along with opening times and accessibility. There is a handy calendar and a map inside the back cover if you wish to make a trail around several venues.
If you prefer to look online, all the details are available on www.open-studios.org.uk

Like similar schemes taking place all over the country throughout the year,Open Studios West Berks and North Hants offers opportunities to visit artist workspaces, watch demonstrations, and buy art directly.
Open Studios 2026 will take place from Saturday, May 9 – Monday, May 25 – and its taster exhibition featuring works by all participating artists and makers – INSIGHT – will run at The Base, Greenham over the same period.
