Bristol’s biggest street art festival is about to enter its final weekend but there are still plenty of chances to attend workshops and see the artists in action. The 17-day programme of events in Bedminister continues until June 2 and by then all the murals will be finished.
With so many talented artists involved and a packed programme of events, we have put together a handy guide with information on when and where to find your favourite artists. There are also a series of workshops running throughout the week, including children’s workshops.
Well-known Bristol artists will join newcomers and UK and international artists this year. One of the Bristol veterans returning to Upfest this year is Rowdy whose trademark crocodile could be seen at Westmoreland House on Stokes Croft before the building was demolished.

Alongside Bristol locals there will be a chance to meet international artists including the Palestinian artist Taqi Spateen who was painting live from May 27-29 on North Street as part of ‘Upfest presents’. His Bristol mural will form one of five in different cities across the UK as part of a new international graffiti art project by Bethlehem Cultural Festival.
Taqi also delivered workshops at the Palestine Museum and Easton Community Centre. He recently painted a mural of two children hanging off a huge daisy in Leeds to highlight the lack of freedom of movement for many including his own family, impacted by the ongoing Palestinian and Israeli conflict.
This year’s line-up of artists also includes many Bristol-based female artists. These include illustrator and comics artist Jayde Perkin whose colourful and upbeat designs have been taking her off the page recently into the world of large-scale murals.
Award-winning artist, Lucy Oats, Molly mural and Rose Popay are some of the other female artists listed as part of this year’s festival. Rose Popay will be doing Can Art drop-in workshops suitable for all ages from 11-4pm at the Tobacco Factory on May 31 and June 1.
