RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) -This weekend, the world’s longest-running tattoo convention is happening in our city.
The Richmond Tattoo & Arts Convention is back for its 36th year and is ready to ink up some folks.
This event has celebrated the artistry and skill of countless renowned tattoo artists from all over the world.
Jesse Smith of Loose Screw Tattoo has some advice if you want to get a new piece this weekend.
“If your goal is to get tattooed, make sure you contact your artist before you get here if you can,” Smith said. ”Buying your tickets online is probably best, as well. It’s going to be a very, very busy weekend, so we want to try to make the experience good for everyone and make sure that we don’t let too many people at the same time.”
They have so much planned all weekend, from a charitable canvas fundraising event to karaoke cage matches.
They‘ll also have famous artists, like Ink Master’s Ryan Ashley, who will co-host.
“There are tattoo artists here this weekend from all over the world, and a lot of them have availability,” said Ashley. ”They have time that they could do a custom tattoo. It gives the community of Richmond the opportunity to really get a once-in-a-lifetime piece from some of these international artists.”
