The competition is organised by the British Judo Association and was held in Walsall Sports Centre, part of the University of Wolverhampton campus.
The competition allows for medallists to be registered in the British judo squad and confirms their eligibility to be called up to the UK squad at national and international events.And the stunning efforts of both Jim, who won a gold medal in the men’s 8+ 100kg category, and Billy, who followed suit by scooping up a gold in the -73 kg category that means that the duo will now represent Inverclyde on the international stage.Billy McPherson (Image: Supplied) McPherson also secured 20 points that moved him closer towards his promotion to 2nd dan.
A club spokesperson said: “It has been a tremendous achievement for one of the smallest judo clubs in Scotland to have two players entered on the squad list.
“With the Alba Open in September and the World Championships in Paris both players are looking forward to competing in national and international events programmed in 2025.”
