INTRODUCTION

Murmur, a registered charity, founded by leaders in climate strategy and the creative industries, enables the worlds of visual arts and music to play their part in combating the climate crisis.

OUR VISION

To help shift hearts and minds on environmental action based on artists communications – could you support us to do this?

Our vision is a society in which artists are informed advocates, operating in climate literate and responsible industries, and collaborating with world-class environmental organisations.

Art can influence society by changing opinions, instilling values and translating experiences. Artists have previously helped to shape thinking and policy on major societal issues such as race, sexuality and the AIDS epidemic. Music in particular has consistently had a significant
cultural and political impact on real-world events and provided power for positive change and unity at historic moments.

ARTISTS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO IGNITE A CRITICAL MASS OF ACTION ON THE CLIMATE CRISIS AND TO BE LEADERS ON THIS VITAL ISSUE.

Murmur is working with Groundswell, part of the Global Optimism movement, and communications leaders such as Richard Dawes (dawbell PR) to design a programme to support artists who want to speak up on climate and on behalf of the planet.

We believe that by bringing artists together with communications experts, we can change the climate conversation and unlock the enormous potential of cultural actors to drive change. We will do this by:

  • Co-creating authentic and inspiring stories with a select group of artists
  • Ensuring that these messages are beneficial to the artists communicating them
  • Delivering rapid response communications
  • Training, convening and inspiring the industry

Through Murmur’s Artist Climate Support, artists can:

  • Inspire people’s imagination about the healthier future we can still create and generate political support to deliver on the overwhelming global support for action.
  • Build a recognisable (and potentially profitable) narrative around an issue they – as well as majorities in every country of the world – care about.

This personalised approach, supported by climate communications experts, will ensure that reputational risks are mitigated.
