Female artists Charli XCX and Dua Lipa will go head to head in the battle for best British artist at tonight’s BRIT Awards.

Singer Charli XCX leads the field with five nominations including the top prize, while Dua Lipa has been shortlisted for four honours.

The star-studded ceremony hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall takes place at London’s O2 Arena with live performances from Ezra Collective and Jorja Smith.

Danny Dyer muted as he calls Keir Starmer a ‘b*****d’ and a ‘s**g’

Though most of the programme aired after the 9pm watershed, swearing is still bleeped out on live TV with artists including Sabrina Carpenter and Lola Young singing clean versions of their tracks.

However, EastEnders icon Danny, 47, didn’t quite keep to the same rules as ITV were forced to censor when he dropped a banned expletive during the live broadcast.

Viewers watching the show from home were faced with multiple muted moments while he spoke to host Jack Whitehall, though his comments have been revealed.

The actor uttered the highly-offensive swear word ‘c***’ before launching a furious rant aimed at Prime Minister Starmer, 62, calling him a ‘b*****d’ and a ‘s**g’.

Giving his unfiltered thoughts on politics, he said the world was ‘being run by ‘b*****ds’ before saying Starmer wins ‘b*****d of the year’.

A third win for Charli XCX!

Charli XCX secures her third award with Artist of the Year.

The singer said: ‘Apparently ITV have complained about my nipples! I thought it was the year of free the nip.

‘It really takes a whole team and they are all sat at that table. Thank you to all the people who helped me make this record.

‘Thank you to all the artists out there who feel like you don’t fit in. This is for you all.’

Chappell Roan wins her second award

Chappell Roan wins International Artist of the Year.

She said, via video link: ‘It’s so lit that I am winning a BRIT. I’m so sad that I can’t be there to celebrate.’

Best New Artist goes to The Last Dinner Party

Follwoing their performance The Last Dinner Party took home the award for Best New Artist.

It marks their second BRIT after winning the Rising Star award at last year’s event.

Bass player Georgia Davies said: ‘It means so much to come back and win this award against so many amazing acts. We’d like to thank literally everyone we have ever met.’

The Irish band are yet another act not able to attend the ceremony and give thanks from Australia.

Host Jack divided fans as he made a series of savage digs directed at the A-list guests.

The comedian, 36, took to the stage at London’s O2 Arena for his fifth year and got off to an eyebrow-raising start as he roasted the celebrity audience.

He took a series at vibes including roasting KSI’s ‘talents’, joking about Simon Cowell‘s face and mocking Stormzy for his controversial McDonald’s partnership.

He took aim at YouTuber KSI, 31, in a never-ending list of jibes, mocking him for his debut as a guest judge on Britain’s Got Talent, stepping in for Bruno Tonioli while he filmed in the US.

Jack savagely said that KSI judging talent was ‘like Stephen Hawking judging Strictly Come Dancing’ before taking aim at his music, which he said was ‘past its Prime’ – a reference to his viral drinks company.

R&B Act is won by Raye

Raye urged kids to ‘not give up on their dreams’ as she addressed the audience by a video link.

Stormzy wins Hip-Hop/Grime/Rap Act

He said: ‘I think Central Cee was the best rap artist of year, but I am very grateful. This is a mad funny time for me to win an award.

‘I’m wearing shades because I’ve got a bruised cornea, I mashed my eye playing padle.’

Chappell Roan scoops International Song of the Year

The American singer’s hit track Good Luck, Babe! wins International Song of the Year.

After being awarded the accolade by Danny Dyer, Chappell addressed her fans via video link.

Is this the BRIT Awards’ sexiest opening performance ever?

Earlier in the night, Sabrina turned up the heat in what could be the BRIT Awards sexiest opener ever.

The 25-year-old singer stripped down to glittering red lingerie and fishnet stockings to put on a very racy performance of her hit songs Espresso and Bed Chem mixed with Rule Britannia.

From dancing around on a giant pink bed to larking around with backup dancers dressed as the King’s Guards, Sabrina certainly didn’t hold back with her risqué performance.

Jade Thirlwall sings Angel Of My Dream

The singer performed Angel Of My Dreams dressed as the bride before changing into a blonde wig and faux fur coat.

Ezra Collective win Group of the Year

The jazz band from London, released their first album last year.

In their acceptance speech, drummer and bandleader Femi said: ‘This moment right here is because of the great youth clubs and the great teachers and school that support young people playing music.

‘So many of the probems that face greater society in the UK… we’re unsure of how to fix it

the solution lies with giving a young person a trumpet because when you do that, you give them a dream, an aspiration and a goal.’

Charli XCX wins her second award

Charli XCX has scooped the award for Dance Act.

Accepting the BRIT she said: ‘I feel like dace music gets a bad rep because people are like, “It’s not that deep.”

‘I think it is. This genre for me is euphoric, it allows me the escape and feel on a very deep level.’

Sam Fender takes home the award for Alternative Rock Act

Voted for by the fans, Sam Fender was announced as the winner for Alternative Rock Act for a second time.

It marks his third BRIT after winnng the Rising Star Award (previously Critics’ Choice Award) in 2019 and Alternative Rock Act in 2022.

After scooping his award, he joked: ‘As you can tell I’m a little bit nervous, I’m nowhere near as drunk as last time.’

‘Massive thanks to the fans, we’ve got the best fans in the world. To everybody at home in Newcastle – love you.

‘Huge thanks to my band. Without them, I’m just a mad person shouting at the walls. Love yous all.’

Olivia Attwood wowed in a sheer lingerie-inspired gown as she made reference to the Pete Wicks ‘cheating’ in a cheeky quip on the red carpet.

Myles Smith to take home the prestigious Rising Star Award

The BRIT Awards announced that Myles Smith will be taking home the prestigious Rising Star Award this year.

The singer, 26, who was pictured with the Award designed by Gabriel Moses, said winning the Award is ‘such a surreal moment’ for him.

He said: ‘Winning the BRIT award for Rising Star is such a surreal moment. Music has always been about connecting with people, and to see it resonate on this level is incredible.’

‘I’m so grateful to my team, my family, and especially the fans who’ve supported me every step of the way.’

Davina McCall gives health update as she returns to the red carpet after having brain tumour removed

Speaking to MailOnline at the star-studded event, the TV personality, 57, gave a health update and poked fun at her risqué ensemble.

Lifting the lid on what inspired her daring look, Davina joked: ‘I just thought, how disgraceful can I look? I’m growing old disgracefully.

‘I thought what should I do? And I thought go see-through.’

Giving an update on her health after having a brain tumour removed in November, the TV star was glowing as she added: ‘I’m feeling amazing. Brace yourselves, I’m back.’

Who is presenting the ceremony?

The 2025 BRIT Awards ceremony is hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall, marking his fifth time at the helm of the event, after having previously presented the show in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

After hosting the livestream revealing this year’s nominees, radio and TV presenter Sian Welby will be joined Capital Xtra broadcaster and cultural commentator Zeze Millz for Live From The Red Carpet.

The livestream will be the first place to see all the action from the star-studded red carpet, as nominees, performers, presenters and more arrive for the big night and will broadcast from 5.30pm on the BRITs’ official Instagram and Facebook.
