The arts centre is inviting local artists interested in displaying their art at the annual Open Exhibition.
Accepted work for exhibition includes original prints, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, textiles, and drawings.
However, photography will not be considered.
The Open Exhibition, a charitable event, is the main fundraiser of the year for the centre.
Money generated from the event is crucial as it provides the essential funds required for the continuation of arts opportunities and cultural experiences for the rural Somerset community.
Notably, the pieces to be displayed during the exhibition will be chosen by an invited panel of judges.
The panel will include Stewart Geddes, Anna Morris, Christine Ackerman, and the Art Centre manager, Bryony Tidball.
They will be aided in their decisions by expert sculptor and centre volunteer, Mike Lanigan.
Mr Geddes, a painter and former associate lecturer at Bridgwater and Taunton College, once held the president’s title at the distinguished Royal West of England Academy (RWA). His most recent works include a collaboration with Philip Selway of Radiohead on visuals for his solo albums.
Ms Morris, another artist on the panel, explores the transient effects of light through print, painting, and collage.
She is a seasoned art teacher who holds an MA in Fine Art from Wimbledon College.
Her art pieces have graced several UK galleries, including the Irving and Wiseman Galleries.
Former Art Centre trustee and painter, Christine Ackerman, will also offer her expertise on the panel.
This alongside Bryony Tidball, an ex-Bridgwater and Taunton College student and holder of a Fine Art Degree.
Full details pertaining to the event will be made available on the exhibition’s website, https://www.ilminsterartscentre.com/open-exhibition-2024.
Other than displaying their talents, artists will also stand a chance to win a share of the £750 prize money available in several award categories, including a particular award targeting emerging artists.
Furthermore, winners will get an opportunity to participate in a group exhibition in 2025.
Artists interested in participating should take note of the deadline for entries, set at 6pm on Friday, May 3.
