Artist pages get much hotter in YouTube Music redesign

YouTube Music are redesigning artist pages for the first time in years with a clean new look that takes listeners more quickly into the music.

YouTube Music celebrated 100 million subscribers along with YouTube Premium earlier this year. The music streaming platform from YouTube has been growing steadily but hasn’t changed all that much in the last 5 years.

Now, we have a refreshed design as artist pages are getting an update. A subtle but powerful redesign brings artists ‘Top songs’ closer to reach for listeners. The redesign is largely visual but also functional, spotlighting the artist’s image more whilst making it quicker to access their discography.

The artist page design originally featured large buttons for Shuffle and Radio of an artist, putting a small scrolling barrier to the rest of their discography. Now the Radio button has been shrunk to a circular button alongside a play button that starts streaming an artist’s entire discography, replacing the shuffle button.

The update brings an artist’s top songs higher. The artist name at the top of the page has also gotten smaller and moved to the left, giving more visual priority to the artist image.

A more prominent Subscribe/Subscribed button has been introduced to help fans connect with the artists they love easier. The subscriber count has also been moved to the side to take less precedent over the image.

The update is currently server-side and isn’t yet available on the YouTube Music app on Android or iOS. These are small changes that make a pleasant change to the appearance and interface of artist pages.
