Come face-to-face with harmless herbivores and terrifying tyrannosaurs, see and touch real dinosaur fossils and even discover who ate whom.

The exhibition also offers an opportunity to learn more about the diverse dinosaurs that called Britain home.

Over 100 species of dinosaurs have been unearthed in the UK, and this exhibition includes a line-up of impressive dinosaur skeletons, real fossil bones, and original fossils from 150 million years ago.

Curator of the museum, Claire Cheshire, said: “We’re looking forward to celebrating the opening of Dinosaurs on the Doorstep, which is a must-see for all fans of dinosaurs, whatever their ages.

“We think people may be surprised at the number of British dinosaurs that have been found, and how impressive their skeletons and fossils are.

“We’re really excited to show this new exhibition and get people interested in the world around us and beneath our feet.”

There will also be hands-on activities like a dinosaur discovery camp and a dino-scientist station.

A full programme of dinosaur-themed events and activities is also lined up to entertain visitors throughout the summer.

Families can also take a piece of their prehistoric adventure home with them, with the Museum Shop offering an array of dinosaur-themed gifts and souvenirs.

Little Al’s Kitchen at the Balcony Café will also be opened, serving as a good refuelling spot for all explorers.

The Dinosaurs on the Doorstep exhibition is free, and will be running Tuesday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm, and Sunday from 10am until 3pm from Saturday, July 13 to Sunday, September 8.
