Created and curated by British-Gujarati artist Hetain Patel, each hobby represents individuality and the commitment to living life on your terms under capitalism and consumerism.

From a gorgeous, upholstered car to an insane cuddly toy collection, knitted puppets to cosplay costumes, the items delve into the complexity of identity, demonstrating how hobbies can reflect the multifaceted nature of self-expression.

Patel’s work has always invited its viewers to consider how personal interests shape the self, forever going beyond the labels and societal norms, with this exhibition shining a spotlight on that ethos in full force.

The exhibition’s ambitious presentation and stunning immersion were made possible through the generous contributions of hobbyists nationwide, reflecting a diverse tapestry of British life–solidifying the fact that we’ve always been a quirky bunch!

It’s the perfect way to rethink what we value in a consumer-driven world and celebrate the creativity that thrives when we’re passionate about something.
