A seaside town has been crowned the ‘laid back capital of the UK’ for its relaxed atmosphere.

Bournemouth has always been a popular destination for holidaymakers, thanks to its vibrant nightlife, iconic pier, and large sandy beaches. However, a recent study identified Bournemouth as the ultimate destination for those seeking a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere. Supplement Place analysed data from 50 towns and cities across the UK, including factors such as life satisfaction, happiness, and anxiety based on ONS data.

The researchers also evaluated the number of yearly Google searches for keywords such as greenspaces, meditation, parks near me, and yoga to determine the overall score for each location. The county of Dorset has been identified as a happy and tranquil place to live, with low levels of anxiety among its residents. But it seems Bournemouth, in particular, has a lot to offer visitors looking for a relaxing break.

There’s something for everyone in this seaside town, from the beautiful seafront to the vibrant cultural scene. People can also take a stroll along the beach or visit one of the town’s many museums and galleries. And when you’re ready to unwind, there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.

The iconic Bournemouth Pier is a must-visit attraction, offering classic seaside amusements such as a Ferris wheel, amusement arcades, and candy floss stands. For those looking for a more peaceful beach experience, Alum Chine Beach is a great option with fewer crowds, while Mudeford Sandbank Beach is a 20-minute drive away but well worth the journey for its tranquil location.

For art lovers, the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum is a must-visit destination. Housed inside a Grade II-listed cliff-top mansion, the gallery boasts an impressive collection of paintings and sculptures. The study also found that Bournemouth’s serene reputation is not limited to just its natural surroundings. The town also boasts a variety of restaurants, cafes, and bars that offer a relaxed ambience, perfect for a peaceful evening out.

So Brits planning UK holidays this summer may want to consider a day out in Bournemouth. The study also found that Reading was one of the most Zen locations in the UK, followed closely by Warrington, Northampton, Luton, Swindon, London, Southend-on-Sea, York, and Leicester. These locations offer a range of amenities and attractions, making them ideal destinations for those seeking a tranquil break from their busy lives.
