Open Art Exhibition Ready to Open its Doors

Open Art ExhibitionSUBMISSIONS are now being accepted for Open Art 24, the Tameside Council exhibition which gives the borough’s artists and creatives the chance to see their work displayed in the Astley Cheetham Gallery, Stalybridge.

The annual event, which is open to everyone, is one of the longest-running exhibitions of its kind in the country. It costs only £1 to enter and people are allowed to submit two items each. There are no restrictions on age.

All kinds of work are eligible. As well as paintings, photography, collage, embroidery, ceramics and woodwork are welcome.

Cllr Sangita Patel, Tameside Council’s assistant executive member for culture, heritage, participation and sport said: “Open Art is exactly what the title suggests – it’s open to everyone, giving all our artists and creatives the chance to see their work properly displayed in a real gallery.

“The exhibition is also well worth a visit. We have a tremendous amount of talent in the borough and year after year Open Art features work that is inspirational, though-provoking, and of a very high standard.”

Entry forms, which carry full details of the event, are available from the Astley Cheetham Gallery, which is on Trinity Street, Stalybridge, above the library, or Portland Basin Museum, Ashton.
