New art gallery among public notices in Norfolk this week


1. Plans for art gallery and tea room in listed building

A planning application has been made for a former office building in King’s Lynn to be transformed into an art gallery and tea room.

It will be based on the ground floor of Chequer House in King Street.

Anyone who wishes to comment on these plans should do so in writing to the executive director of development services or via the council’s website by June 8.

The A140 Cromer Road near Norwich Airport is set to close for several days of roadworks, costing Norfolk County Council £83,234.

The closure on June 7, June 10, June 11 and June 12 between 9.30pm and 3.30pm will prevent people from parking on the Cromer Road and Mayfield Avenue junction to the northern Norwich Airport Park and Ride entrance.

A road rejuvenator will be sprayed on to the road surface to extend the life of the road and requires time to soak into the top layer.

A nine-mile northbound diversion route follows Mile Cross Lane, Chartwell Road, Wroxham Road, the NDR and on to Cromer Road.

Southbound traffic will be open for the duration of the works and vehicle and pedestrian access to properties will be maintained.

Part of the NDR near Norwich is to close next week for roadworks costing £41,500.

The road at Postwick, officially called the A1270 Broadland Northway, will be closed from the junction with the Poppy Way roundabout to the junction with the A47 roundabout.

It will be closed between 9.30am and 3pm on June 6.

The Norfolk County Council work will see a road rejuvenator sprayed on the road which will need time to soak into the top layer of the road surface.

A fully signed diversion route will be in place throughout the duration of the closure.

4. Goods Vehicle Operator’s Licence at Cherry Tree Farm in Norwich

Torque Scaffolding Ltd of Neylond Crescent in Norwich is applying for a licence to use Cherry Tree Farm in Swannington as an operating centre for four goods vehicles.

Owners or occupiers of land near the operating centre who believe that their use or enjoyment of that land would be affected should write to the Traffic Commissioner at Hillcrest House in Leeds.

5. Plans for additional guestrooms at The Knights Hill Hotel

A planning application for a two-storey extension to provide 12 new guestrooms at The Knights Hill Hotel has been put forward in King’s Lynn.

The proposals would make physical alterations to the building which was built approximately 20 years ago and are not related to the site of the original listing building.

The Knights Hill Hotel is based in Grimston Road in South Wootton.

Anyone who wishes to comment on these plans should do so in writing to the executive director of development services or via the council’s website by June 8.
