The thriving arts scene in the West Midlands has received another welcome boost from the region’s popular tram network.
Wolverhampton Art Gallery is the latest organisation to benefit from a partnership with West Midlands Metro, offering 10% discount for visitors, and an even more generous 15% discount has also been offered to gallery volunteers aiming to promote the city’s rich cultural heritage and the talented artists that live, work and visit the region. In return, the venues promote the tram as the most effective way to get to and from exhibitions and events. West Midlands Metro employees also benefit from reductions in the gallery restaurant.
Cabinet Member for City Development, Jobs and Skills Councillor Chris Burden said, “We are thrilled to be working in partnership with West Midlands Metro to promote sustainable travel to and from the city centre.
“Wolverhampton Art Gallery is located just a short walk from the Pipers Row Metro stop and provides easy access and opportunity for schools, residents and visitors from across the region to experience world-class culture in Wolverhampton.” Michael Reading-Skilton, the Metro’s Commercial Manager, explained: “Wolverhampton Art Gallery is just a four-minute walk from our Pipers Row stop, and with trams from every eight minutes, the Metro offers one of the easiest ways to get to one of the area’s most important cultural centres.
“This latest partnership reflects our commitment to supporting local arts that truly reflect the diversity and talent to be found in the communities we serve.” To take advantage of the travel offer, customers need to download the My Metro App visit www.wolverhamptonart.org.uk/metro-pass/ to get the QR code to take advantage of this offer.
