Lake Country Art Gallery exhibition highlights artistic journeys

The Lake Country Art Gallery presents its upcoming art exhibition “What Trickles Through” beginning in late July.

It features guest curator Julie Oakes, and the works of Ashley Johnson, Mahmoud Meraji, and Ortansa Moraru.

What Trickles Through showcases the three artists, each of whom began their artistic journey in their country of origin before immigrating to Canada.

Moraru was born in Romania and arrived in Canada in 2002. Her works explore themes of identity and displacement.

Meraji comes from Iran and moved to Canada in 1998. His art delves into the complexities of cultural integration and the merging of Eastern and Western artistic traditions.

Johnson is from South Africa, and relocated Canada in 2005. His pieces often focus on themes of transformation and the impact of geographical and cultural shifts.

All three artists are now Canadian citizens.

What Trickles Through opens with a free reception on Saturday, July 20, from 1 to 3 p.m., and runs until September 15.
