The North Thompson Arts Council (NTAC) is proud to have Teresa Selbee Baker and her latest body of work showcased at our Gallery from May 3 to May 27, 2024. The show is called “Without Saying A Word.” This exhibition consists of 100 portraits and showcases her continued exploration of identity and curiosity as an artist.
Teresa’s journey in art started in Clearwater and it is a privilege to have her come back and exhibit with us for the month of May. Teresa now draws inspiration from the West Coast as she now resides on Savary Island. She is a wife and mother of two grown sons. Selbee Baker’s art explores themes of memory, identity and feminine perspectives.
With a background in fine arts, and a bachelors degree from Thompson Rivers University, Selbee Baker has firmly established herself as a B.C. artist. She is an active member of the Thrive Together Network, an international community for women artists, and she is continuously developing and exploring new techniques through online classes.
Selbee Baker’s artistic journey includes solo exhibitions in Kamloops, Savary Island, and Chicago, as well as group showcases in Bashaw, Alberta, Sechelt, Kamloops and Vancouver, B.C.
Thanks to her remote location, she’s participated in online exhibitions in 2021 and 2022, and several in 2023. Selbee Baker has been recognized by local newspapers, Artist Talk magazine, Suboart magazine, and CBC Radio’s North by Northwest.
