Art Gallery Burlington accessible and free to all

Art Gallery Burlington welcomes you into its space…for free!

“Art Gallery Burlington (AGB) is a warm, accessible, barrier-free space that is free for everyone to visit,” explained AGB Artistic Director, Suzanne Carte. “It’s a safe space for folks to congregate, and to enjoy the diverse and beautiful offerings in our gallery spaces. We really want everyone to come see and enjoy!”

One of the shows currently on exhibit is a highlight for the museum and Carte, ceramic artist David Harper’s show, MIDNIGHT. “This is Milwaukee-based artist David Harper’s show, who has works in our National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa. This is his biggest Canadian exhibition, and it’s right here at AGB. We are so honoured and thrilled to have MIDNIGHT here,” said Carte. MIDNIGHT will be on exhibit until January 5, 2025.

AGB has the largest collection of Canadian contemporary clay and ceramic work in the world, parts of which are on display at any given time. The gallery also hosts many workshops and classes around clay making and other art forms, which are available to everyone. “We have wonderful studios here for artists of all levels to use and make their own art,” said Carte.

AGB has free family open studios on the weekend, for families to come and try some artmaking together. There is so much free programming around each of the exhibits currently on display. “We have digital talks and workshops with the artists,” said Carte. “It’s a way to have access to artists all over the world.”

Revel: The Ultimate Art Bash is happening for the second time at AGB, November 8 from 7 p.m. to midnight. This is a fundraising event/art celebration/party like no other. “It really is the ultimate party, with creativity at its core,” said Carte.

She continued, “It’s the party of the year! The Gallery is transformed by NRG Lites and massive art installations. There are DJs spinning bumping tracks, local chefs building incredible feasts, and the drinks will be flowing. It’s an amazing night of revelry. Trust me, you won’t want to miss it!” For tickets to Revel, go here.

Carte completed, “AGB is really a public education unit, a school.  And yes, it’s a school of hands-on learning, but it’s also a place to teach people to see and understand how artists view the world in a different and transformative way. It’s really all about storytelling. Being exposed to art will change your life, really it will!”
