Jo Holdsworth’s latest solo show called City and Coast is being hosted by interiors and lifestyle brand Neptune in their gorgeous Neptune Wimbledon showroom. This exciting exhibition of stunning paintings by leading British artist Jo Holdsworth runs from 22nd June to 7th July 2024.
Jo Holdsworth is known for her paintings of elongated and reflective figures often in blue and grey tones. Seen on book, album and magazine covers, Holdsworth’s distinctive paintings attract a loyal following and carry a strong message of hope for the future. As part of the show, visitors will have the opportunity to see thirty of Jo Holdsworth’s paintings hung all around the Neptune Wimbledon store, allowing visitors to view Holdsworth’s art in a beautiful, stylish home setting.
Jo Holdsworth art
Represented by galleries in London, Devon and Cornwall, Holdsworth’s dynamic and highly collectible paintings are admired throughout the world, feted by galleries and art collectors mesmerised by Holdsworth’s long, reflected silhouettes. The figures in Holdsworth’s paintings are used as recurring motifs to explore the human condition and its connectedness to the environment. Living and working in London, Holdsworth takes inspiration from the capital’s ever-changing landscape and urban city views, as well as reflections on the British coast at low tide.
Holdsworth’s paintings combine a subtle colour palette with skilful expressiveness and loose, spontaneous brushwork. Thick layers of paint are ingeniously applied with a range of implements in a way that mimics the downpour of rain, the puddling of water on the ground and the beautiful yet distorted reflections this brings.
Form and Colour – Holdsworth
Form and colour are paramount to Holdsworth – her distinctive colour palette reflects her love of blue, the colour of hope. The collection has a sense of calm and a deep connection with its environment. The collection also features large-scale works which embody her long-standing love of London as well as her overwhelming passion for the coast.
London art critic Tabish Khan wrote recently of Jo Holdsworth’s work: ‘It’s the mixture of calm beauty and ambiguity throughout all of Jo Holdsworth’s paintings that mesmerises the viewer.’
Jo Holdsworth shares, ‘I am delighted to have been invited to show my paintings in the stunning Neptune Wimbledon store. Visitors can see the pieces in a beautiful home setting, where the combination of art and design work together to enhance and complement one another. It is such a treat for me to have my work hanging in the gorgeous Neptune Wimbledon space and I cannot wait for visitors to experience the Show.’
Simon Gander, head of Neptune Wimbledon, said ‘We are thrilled to have Jo Holdsworth’s paintings on show here at Neptune Wimbledon and we are looking forward to our clients seeing this remarkable exhibition of paintings in our showroom. Our theme for spring and summer is coastal which is an exciting fit with this unique collection of works by this outstanding contemporary artist.’
